Set out for a day of hiking through pristine wilderness at Seneca Regional Park, located in Great Falls, Virginia. Follow winding trails and interpretive signage all the way to the river, and discover the remnants of George Washington’s Potowmack Canal. This equestrian-friendly park is bisected by the Potomac National Heritage Trail, which follows the same routes explored by George Washington
Visitors to Seneca Regional Park can hike down to the river, where they will find a 1-mile channel that is the remains of George Washington’s Patowmack Canal. In 1790, it was one of the first operational canals routing boats around Seneca Breaks, a set of rapids where the Potomac River drops 10 feet in one-and-a-quarter mile.
Please check trail conditions prior to purchasing and participating for this event. If there is inclement weather, a make up date will be provided by the event organizer at Pars Place. TIckets are Non-refundable. If you bring your four-legged friend please make sure that leash laws are observed. Please wear appropriate hiking gear and attire, and pack a lunch if you would like.
